Windows 10, in this window you can share your Printers with so many PCs. There are primary and secondary PCs, you just have to set up a sharing setting for the printer then connect the printer to the primary PC and turn on the printer. Ensure that the primary PC is turned On and connected to the printer/network. 

 

SHARE THE PRINTER ON THE PRIMARY PC

 

On ‘Setting’ and ‘control panel’ you can share your printer in two ways

 

Share Your Printer By Using Setting

  • Click on the Start button > Settings > Devices  > Printers & scanners.
  • Then you need to choose the printer that you want to share, and then select Manage.
  • Now click on Printer Properties, and choose the Sharing tab.
  • From the Sharing tab, go to Share this printer.
  • If you wish you can edit the share name of your printer. You can use this name when you want to  connect to the printer from a secondary PC.

 

By Using Control Panel, Share Your Printer

  • Go to the Control Panel.
  • select view devices and printers under Hardware and Sound. 
  • The printer you want to share, Select and hold the printer,  then select Printer properties,now choose the sharing tab.
  • Select Share this printer, to the sharing tab
  • Here also you can edit the share name of the printer, to connect to the printer from a secondary PC if you wish.

 

CONNECT THE SHARED PRINTER TO ANOTHER PC

By using the settings and control panel, you can connect the shared printer to another PC.

 

Connect A Shared Printer Using Settings

  • Click on Start button, then go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
  • Select Add a printer or scanner, Under Add printers & scanners,
  • choose your printer and then select Add Device.
  • If your printer doesn’t appear there than select The printer that I want isn’t listed.
  • Select a shared printer by name, In the Add printer dialog box.
  • Now enter the computer or device name of the primary PC and the device name of the printer and use these formats there
  • \\computername\printername
  • http://computername/printername/.printer
  • After installation select next to complete the installation.

 

By Using Control Panel, Share A Shared Printer

  • Go to the control Panel.
  • Now select View devices and printers, under the Hardware and Sound.
  • Then select the printer you want and click Next.
  • Install the printer driver.
  • If your printer doesn’t appear there than select The printer that I want isn’t listed.
  • Now enter the computer or device name of the primary PC and the device name of the printer and use these formats there

  • After installation select next to complete the installation.

 

SET UP SHARING SETTINGS

The setting you are using to share the device should be turned on by default if it’s not then follow these steps to turn the setting on by using settings or Control Panel.

 

Turn On Sharing In Settings

  • Go to Network & Internet then WI-FI.
  • Select Change advanced sharing options, Under Related settings.
  • Now, expand the Private section, In the Advanced sharing settings dialog box.
  • Then select Turn on network discovery.
  • Click on Turn on file and printer sharing, Under the File and printer sharing option.

 

Turn On Sharing In Control Panel

  • First, Go to the control panel. 
  • Click on Network and internet then Network and Sharing Center then Change advanced sharing settings.
  • Now, expand the Private section, In the Advanced sharing settings dialog box.
  • Then select Turn on network discovery.
  • Click Turn on file and printer sharing, Under File and printer sharing.

 

Find Your PC Name

 

Find your PC name in Settings

  • Type the computer name, In the search box on the taskbar, 
  • Then click View your PC name.
  • You can see your PC name under device name. 
  • Now, Find your PC name in the Control Panel.

 

Find Your Pc Name In Control Panel

  • Go to the control panel.
  • Then, click on System and Security > System > See the name of this computer.
  • You can see your PC name under the device name.
